Soapstone is relatively soft because of its high talc content, talc having a definitional value of 1 on the Mohs hardness scale. Softer grades may feel similar to soap when touched, hence the name. No fixed hardness is given for soapstone because the amount of talc it contains varies widely, from as little as 30% for architectural grades such as those used on countertops, to as much as 80% for carving grades.

Soapstone is easy to carve, it is also durable, heat-resistant and has a high heat storage capacity. It has therefore been used for cooking and heating equipment for thousands of years. As a result, it is a good material for oil burners.

How to use an Oil Burner to diffuse essential oils

Burning essential oils is a low-tech and inexpensive way to add beautiful aromas to your home. However, not all oils are the same so you must take care in choosing the oils to burn.. If used properly and safely, burning essential oils can help you create an aromatic and therapeutic environment

Essential Oils are different to Fragrance Oils. Essential Oils have an aromatherapy benefit such a relaxing Lavender. However, Fragrane Oils have no theraputic value and are often artificially produced.

Position the Oil Burner on a stable platform making sure it will not get knocked over.

Add water to the top of the burner to fill the well. Then, add several drops of oil. The more oil you use, the stronger the fragrance though it will not necessarily last longer.

Insert a good quality tlight into the burner having lit it first.

That’s it!. Enjoy the beautiful fragrance.

    Cedarwood Atlas Oil 10ml

Cedarwood Atlas Oil comes from Morocco and is distilled from sawdust or chopped waste wood.

The name Cedrus originates from the Arabic word Kedron which means ‘Power.’

In terms of how the oil helps us physically, it is antirheumatic, calmative, antiparasitic, anticatarrhal,  a lymphatic decongestant, antiseptic, and an astringent.

Also, it is non toxic and non irritant in prescribed doses.

In addition, we associate Cedarwood with the Base or Root Chakra and the Chinese Element Water.

The Cedarwood is a large evergreen conifer that grows to a height of up to 50 meters. It has needle like leaves and brown cones.

Moreover, cedarwood’s anti-septic, deodorising and insect-repellent properties make it a very useful oil for burning or diffusing.

Try blending with any of the citrus oils.

    Jasmine Oil 10ml

Jasmine Oil comes from Egypt and is extracted from the concrete made from the flowers.

In terms of how the oil helps us physically, it is an analgesic, antispasmodic, an aphrodisiac, calmative and a uterine tonic.

Also, it is non toxic and non irritant in prescribed doses.

In India, Jasmine is referred to as ‘Queen of the night’ due to it’s scent being stronger after sunset.

In addition, we associate Jasmine with the Sacral and Base Chakra and the Chinese Elements Fire and Water

Jasmine Absolute is extracted by alcohol extraction from a ‘concrete’ made with the flowers of the plant, picked by hand, only in the evening. This process is what makes Jasmine so costly. The Jasmine used in this product is 100% pure and natural.

    May Chang Oil 10ml

May Chang Oil has a wonderful citrus aroma which uplifts, cleanses and tones. It is an excellent room deodoriser and insect repellent.

In manufacturing. the oil is steam distilled from the pepper shaped fruits. It is antiseptic, non-irritant and astringent. However, it may irritate the skin or mucous membrane. Importantly, do not use on sensitive or damaged skin.

Oil of May Chang is a comparatively new essential oil to the West. It is steam-distilled from the pepper-shaped fruits (Cubeba) of this tropical tree.

The strong lemon odour of the main constituent (Citral – 75%) dominates and hence the oil resembles Lemongrass, although it has a rounder and more fruity aroma.
