Willow Tree You’re the Best
“This piece is all about the apple. I wanted it to symbolize many things … to stand out, be large, delicious, shiny. Obviously, it’s a symbol for teacher appreciation — but the apple is also just a beautiful fruit! A metaphor for good health, for wisdom, for someone chosen for something big … for a special person who always gives the best of her or himself, and makes a difference in the lives of others. I like that this piece is so open — I’ll be interested to read how others interpret it.” —Susan Lordi

Willow Tree sculptural art forms beautifully express love, closeness, healing, courage, hope… all the emotions of a life well lived. In addition, Artist Susan Lordi hand carves the original of each figure from her studio in Kansas City Missouri. Cast from her original carvings, and individually painted by hand. They reveal expression through gestures only… a tilt of the head, placement of the hands, a turn of the body. The simplicity of form and absence of facial features signify Willow Tree. Also, it is Susan’s hope that these pieces be meaningful to both giver and receiver.

Angels
An angel is a supernatural being in various religions. The study of angels is known as angelology. Also, Angels are part of all of the world’s major religions. The only figures that we can say that about.
Abrahamic religions often depict them as benevolent celestial intermediaries between God (or Heaven) and humanity. Other roles include protectors and guides for humans, and servants of God. Abrahamic religions describe angelic hierarchies, which vary by sect and religion. Some angels have specific names (such as Gabriel or Michael) or titles . In addition, we call those expelled from Heaven fallen angels, as distinct from the heavenly host.
In greek mythology Angelos was a daughter of Zeus and held influence over the world of the dead. When we see angels in art, they are usually shaped like humans of extraordinary beauty. Also, we often see them in Christian artwork with bird wings, halos, and divine light.
