Description

Lotus Tealight Blue

The Lotus symbolises darkness to light, ignorance to knowledge. The Lotus symbolises also the 7 energy centres in the human body, the chakras.

The lotus plays a central role in the art of many religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism.

In Asian art a lotus throne is a stylized lotus flower used as the seat or base for a figure. For instance, it is the normal pedestal for divine figures in Buddhist art and Hindu art.

The Lotus symbolises the transformation from darkness into light, from ignorance into clarity.  In addition, the lotus represents purity of the body, speech and mind, as if floating above the murky waters of material attachment and physical desire. According to legend, Gautama Buddha’s first steps made lotus flowers appear everywhere he stepped.

Buddists in Tibet consider Padmasambhava, the Lotus-Born, to be the Second Buddha. He brought Buddhism to Tibet by conquering or converting local deities. Normally depicted holding a flower. Lotus thrones are the normal pedestal for most important figures in Buddhist art.

About Capiz Shells

Capiz shells are actually the outer shells of a marine mollusc. Its scientific name is placuna placenta. However it is known as “windowpane oyster”. Philippine Capiz shells are so named because they were originally harvested from the shallow coastal waters near the town of Capiz, on the island of Panay. Once cleaned, the shells are naturally translucent and, when painted, allow for a glorious interplay between light and colour.

The Lotus Tealight Indigo combines the beauty of the lotus and the natural capiz.
