We associate the crystal Kunzite with the birth signs Scorpio, Taurus and Leo and also the month of february. In addition the chakra most associated with it is the heart.

It’s named after famed gemologist George Frederick Kunz, who was the first to identify it as a unique variety of spodumene. Kunzite gets its delicate color from trace amounts of manganese. California’s San Diego County is an important source of kunzite but this specimen comes from Afghanistan. Kunzite in it’s natural form is often irradiated to enhance the colour.

The igneous rocks, knoiwn as pegmatites, where Kunzite forms are also a source of Lithium.
