What are Chakras?

Chakras are centres of spiritual power or energy points located within the human body, according to ancient Indian spiritual and healing traditions, particularly those of Hinduism and Buddhism. The concept of chakras plays a significant role in yoga, meditation, and Ayurvedic medicine. Here are the seven primary chakras, each associated with different physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of life:

  1. Root Chakra (Muladhara):
    • Location: Base of the spine
    • Colour: Red
    • Imbalance Symptoms: Fear, insecurity, financial instability
  2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana):
    • Location: Lower abdomen, about two inches below the navel
    • Colour: Orange
    • Imbalance Symptoms: Emotional instability, sexual dysfunction, lack of creativity
  3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura):
    • Location: Upper abdomen, around the stomach area
    • Colour: Yellow
    • Imbalance Symptoms: Low self-esteem, control issues, digestive problems
  4. Heart Chakra (Anahata):
    • Location: Center of the chest, near the heart
    • Colour: Green
    • Imbalance Symptoms: Loneliness, difficulty in relationships, heart problems
  5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha):
    • Location: Throat
    • Colour: Blue
    • Imbalance Symptoms: Communication issues, sore throat, thyroid problems
  6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna):
    • Location: Forehead, between the eyebrows
    • Colour: Indigo
    • Imbalance Symptoms: Lack of intuition, difficulty concentrating, headaches
  7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara):
    • Location: Top of the head
    • Colour: Violet or white
    • Imbalance Symptoms: Spiritual disconnection, confusion, depression
